Bomb explodes in Nigeria, 120 killed

Christmas bombing incidents in Nigeria has not been lost from memory. Now the state is again rocked by a bomb. On Friday night local time, a bomb exploded in Kano, Nigeria's second largest city, killing more than 120 people.

"There is a bomb exploded, then there are armed troops exchanged gunfire with police," said one officer who declined to be named, as published by Reuters news agency, Saturday, January 21, 2012. After the bomb explodes, bullets whistle was sounded.

 
The bodies kept coming into the hospital morgue in Kano. As reported by MSN, the bomb exploded after Friday prayers and during the middle of the shops closed.

 
According to the Nigerian Red Cross spokesman, blast victims received first aid from people around. After the people left their first victims to nearby hospitals and clinics, then the authorities come to help.

 
In a statement issued on the same day, federal police spokesman, Olusola Amore, said the attacker targeted a police station five, two immigration offices, and headquarters of State Security Service, the Nigeria police.

Until now, he continued, authorities were still evacuating the bodies that lay at the scene. The Nigerian government then imposed a curfew for 24 hours for this incident. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors because of the ongoing firefight.
